Every named place on Mars

2,048 features carry an official name, and for every one of them the International Astronomical Union wrote down why. Craters smaller than 60 km are named after towns on Earth with fewer than 100,000 people, which is how 106 countries and cultures ended up scattered across another planet.
火星には2,048件の地名があり、その一つ一つに理由が記録されています。直径60km未満のクレーターには人口10万人未満の町の名前が付く決まりで、そのおかげで小さな町の名が、別の惑星に載っています。
